How to keep broccoli fresh for longer !
Broccoli doesn't stay fresh for long after you buy it from the market. If you want to keep this beneficial vegetable fresh for at least a week, here are some important tips for storing it.
1. The easiest way to store broccoli for a week is to refrigerate it. Do not wash the broccoli before storing it, as this can cause moisture loss. Place the broccoli in a perforated plastic bag or loosely wrap it in a damp paper towel to maintain proper humidity.
2. A great way to extend the life of broccoli is to keep its leaves and stems in water. Trim the ends of the broccoli stems and place them in a jar or container filled with enough water. Cover with a plastic bag and refrigerate. Change the water every 2-3 days to keep the broccoli hydrated.
3. If you want to store broccoli for more than a week, you can freeze it. Wash the broccoli and cut the florets. Blanch them in boiling water for 2-3 minutes. Remove from the hot water and immediately plunge into ice water. Dry them well and place them on a baking sheet in the freezer. Once frozen, transfer them to a freezer-safe bag. Frozen broccoli can be stored for up to a few months.
4. Vacuum sealing removes air from the storage bag, preventing oxidation and slowing the process of fading. To store broccoli using this method, wash the broccoli and cut off the florets. Then place it in a vacuum bag and seal the bag. The lack of air helps keep the vegetable fresher for longer. Store vacuum-sealed broccoli in the refrigerator. #broccoli #fresh #tips
