7 tips to keep flowers fresh in a vase

A bunch of fresh flowers in a vase can change the atmosphere of a room. Many people like to keep fresh flowers in their homes. However, the flowers in the vase wilt after a couple of days. Find out what to do if you want to keep flowers fresh for several days.

  1. Place the flowers in a clean vase. When placing them in water, cut the flower stem at a 45-degree angle. This will keep a large portion of the stem in contact with the water. This will make it easier to absorb the water.
  2. Water temperature also plays an important role in this. Always keep the water in the vase at room temperature. However, if the flower is in bud stage, you can give it cold water. Keep the vase three-fourths full of water.
  3. Mix 2 tablespoons of white vinegar into the water in the vase. This will prevent bacteria from growing.
  4. Make sure that no leaves are submerged in the water in the vase. If the leaves are submerged, they will rot quickly and the flowers will be ruined.
  5. Change the water in the vase every day. When changing the water, cut off an inch from the bottom of the flower stem. If the petals dry out or the leaves look rotten, remove them.
  6. Do not place vases with flowers in direct sunlight.
  7. When buying a bouquet of flowers, buy one that has more than half a dozen buds. This will keep the beauty of the flowers intact for a long time.
