Ways to keep pickles good for a long time

Many people love to make delicious pickles of various flavors with seasonal fruits and eat them throughout the year. However, the taste of pickles can be spoiled due to being stored in a sealed container for a long time. Again, yeast or fungus grows in the presence of water or air in sour fruits. This completely ruins the taste and quality of pickles. How to keep pickles good? Find out the tips. 

  1. Use more oil to keep pickles fresh. The layer of oil on top prevents air from entering the pickles. As a result, the oxygen supply is cut off and bacteria cannot survive. If the oil level decreases after storing the pickles in the jar, you can heat the oil and add it to the pickles again.
  2. Before making pickles, wash the fruit, drain the water well, and dry it. It is best to leave it in the sun for a while. This will reduce the risk of fungus later. 
  3. Vinegar acts as a preservative, so if you want to keep pickles for a long time, it's time to make vinegar.  
  4. If you want to store pickles for a long time instead of keeping them in plastic jars, it is better to keep them in glass jars. However, it must be kept in a dry jar.
  5. You can use asafoetida, turmeric, and fenugreek powder in pickles. Also, adding sodium benzoate acid keeps the pickles good for a long time. 
  6. Place the pickle jar in the sun occasionally. This will reduce the risk of mold.
  7. Do not store pickles in too large jars. Because opening the jar repeatedly can cause fungus to fall on the pickles. Store pickles in small jars.
