How to protect your child from mosquitoes

The rainy season is here. During this season, parents worry about protecting their children from mosquito bites and sleep becomes difficult. They use mosquito nets during sleep. But during the rest of the time? Here are some tips on how to protect your child from mosquitoes both indoors and outdoors.

You should choose clothes wisely
and cover most of your body with clothes. Wearing full-sleeved clothes and pajamas will provide a lot of protection from mosquitoes. However, in this heat, you should wear cotton clothes so that air can circulate. If the clothes are too tight, the child will suffer in the heat, and the chances of mosquito bites will also increase. So choose loose-fitting clothes. Dark colors and floral designs attract mosquitoes, so it is better to dress children in light-colored clothes during this dengue season.

Use of mosquito repellent according to age
There are many types of mosquito repellents available in the market now. These are used in various ways like sprays, lotions, roll-ons, stickers. They are generally thought to protect children from mosquitoes for two to five hours. However, before using them, make sure to know whether they are suitable for your child's age. Because various chemicals are mixed in them to repel mosquitoes. Not all chemicals may be suitable for all ages.

According to experts, no chemical mosquito repellent should be used before the baby is two months old. Instead, keep him under a mosquito net as much as possible. It can be used after two months. However, experts believe that parents should choose a mosquito repellent that has a low concentration of chemicals. And before using it, you must know the instructions for use.

Natural mosquito repellents:
If you have sensitive skin, natural mosquito repellents can be the best solution. Some essential oils like lemongrass, citronella, neem, lavender, eucalyptus, cedar, soybean, etc. work as mosquito repellents. Burning scented candles with these oils in your home will not only spread a beautiful scent throughout your home, but will also keep mosquitoes away.

If you don't have respiratory problems, you can also burn incense at home to keep mosquitoes away. However, burning incense, coils, candles, or incense sticks are attractive objects to small children. Accidents can happen if you touch the fire without realizing it. So, if you burn candles or incense, keep it out of the reach of children.

Be careful when using cosmetics
. Children's cosmetics often contain fragrance-free mixtures of flowers and fruits, which attract mosquitoes and insects. So try to buy children's lotions, soaps, and oils that are fragrance-free.

Mosquito Repellent Gadgets:
If your child has chemical sensitivities and allergies, you can use ultrasonic and electromagnetic rackets to repel mosquitoes. Also, if there are few mosquitoes in the house, liquid vaporizers are also useful. However, if there are too many mosquitoes, it loses its effectiveness.

It is important to be strict about cleanliness.
The most important thing is to regularly clean the breeding grounds of mosquitoes. The Aedes mosquito responsible for dengue breeds in stagnant water. They can lay eggs in a very small amount of water, which takes only seven to ten days to hatch. Therefore, if you keep water in tanks, drums and buckets at home, you should cover them in such a way that mosquitoes cannot enter them. Moreover, water should not be allowed to accumulate in air coolers, AC trays and tubs. Water accumulated in flower pots or any other container should be thrown away every day. Pour a few drops of kerosene oil into open drains, small ponds or sources of stagnant water around the house at least once a week. Kerosene oil forms a thin layer on the water and prevents the breeding of mosquitoes.

Throw away unnecessary things in the house. Because the corners and piles of things in the house are the favorite hiding places for mosquitoes. Spray mosquito repellent oil under the bed, in every corner of the house and where there are many things at least once a day. Move the things around. This will prevent mosquitoes from nesting there. If you have a garden under the house or on the roof, make sure to trim the weeds of the plants regularly.

Don't blindly believe in home remedies.
You can try out home remedies you hear from the internet or someone else. However, it would be foolish to blindly believe in them. In addition to home remedies, adopt proven measures to keep mosquitoes away for the safety of your child. If possible, arrange to install nets or mosquito screens on the windows and doors of the house.
