Tawny Frogmouth Bird

Tawny Frogmouth Bird is most well-known nocturnal bird in Australia. Observe its large, "frog-like" bill with whiskers that are only faintly banded above, and its bright yellow eye. When it roosts, its shaggy plumage blends in with the rough bark, demonstrating its mastery of camouflage. typically gray, though some subspecies have a more rusty hue. Common in suburban areas and found in a wide range of habitats. 

The tawny frogmouth makes use of cryptic plumage and mimicry to camouflage itself. These birds strategically perch themselves on low tree branches during daylight hours, cleverly assimilating with the tree itself.
