Elizabeth Taylor's necklace

Many people know Elizabeth Taylor, the once very popular actress of Hollywood. The actress, who played in the famous historical film 'Cleopatra', received a very expensive pearl as a gift from her husband Richard Burton in 1969, called 'Le Peregrina'. There is a huge history associated with 'Le Peregrina'. It is believed that in the 16th century, a black slave in Panama, Central America, picked it up from the seashore. He then handed it over to his Spanish master.
In exchange, he was probably freed. And 'Le Peregrina' ended up with the Spanish royal family. It was in the possession of the Spanish royal family for about three hundred years. Then, during the wars and turmoil of Europe, it changed hands with the kings of various states and was lost several times. Its last owner, an English royal family, put it up for auction in 1969, and Richard Burton bought it for $37,000. It is the largest pearl ever found. Its pear-shaped and symmetrical shape has increased its appeal many times over.
But the interesting thing is, Elizabeth Taylor also lost it within a few days of getting it! Later, after getting it back, she made a necklace using this 'Le Peregrina' along with some other precious stones. It was sold at an auction in 2011 for $ 11.8 million .
